hiya

hiya
i'm back on good ol' blogger due to the suggestion of mckenzie
not much going on in my life. my days mainly consist of waking up at 10, and doing nothing of importance until i go to bed at around 11 or 12. or maybe even 1. depending on the night.
prior to these EXCITING days i went on a trip. to arizona. and nevada. it was a pleasurable experience.
on saturday morning i got up early and hopped on a five hour flight to arizona, across the entire continental united states. the furthest west i've ever been. pretty sad. we landed in the vegas airport. even the airport had slot machines. everywhere. we weren't allowed near them. cause its against the law. which is stupid. apparantly if we spend too much time near them we might get some sudden urge to gamble.
then some parents went to get rental cars. and we waited. alot. when they finally came we drove to the hoover dam. which was pretty dam cool. hahahaha. i'm soooo funny! not much to say except it was a big dam. we got to go on a tour and they took us into the dam. and we got to see the turbines and stuff. all in all the hoover dam was cool.
then we drove BACK to vegas. or at least the suburbs of vegas. our hotel was there. we swam in the pool. and the hot tub. and slept.
the next day (monday) we drove 5 hours to arizona to see the grand hole in the ground (canyon)! it was amazing!! my friend, elaine, almost fell in within the first five minutes of us being there. but she didn't. luckily. i can't even begin to describe it. it was awesome. there were so many colors and its true that pictures can't capture everything. we would go out on the ledges (which probably isn't safe) and dangle our feet off the edge. fun stuff.
in the grand canyon stores (there were many) there was a book called "Death at the Grand Canyon". it told about every recorded death at the grand canyon. ever. and every time i saw a copy of that book i read it. it was depressing. there were so many people who commited sucide and people of ALL ages who died there. none the less, i enjoyed myself.
we spent tuesday at the grand canyon as well. we went on a tour with Oscar, an amazing tour guide. he was native american, mexican, and irish. we basically saw the grand canyon. alot. from different angles and such. it was just as beautiful as it was the day before. obviously. he showed us these cool caves on the sides of the canyon where the native americans would store food. you could only see them from certain angles. it was cool. we also went on a sunset tour that night. it was absolutely gorgeous.
i'm not sure if this counts as monday or tuesday, so i'm not gonna count it as either. it's muesday. i was in a room at the lovely yavapi lodge with two other people, both who were hiking down (i was lame and didn't hike down). they had to wake up extremely early to get out on their hike. i didn't want to be in the room alone (cause that would be creepy!) so i had to get up with them. pack up the remainder of my belongings. and move to another room. all while i was still half asleep. not fun.
on tuesday i woke up (again) and prepared to drive to flagstaff to go to an old mansion. we only had two cars and we named both of them. my car had multiple names: the fart cart (because it previously had a girl named katie in it.... i think you get it) the midnight cobra (because we were the navy car with a a white one and two silvers) and the studmobile (i think that ones pretty much self-explanitory). the other car was know as the silver bullet (because it was ilver..)it was more of a log cabin. but it was still cool. there was some old nice fancy expensive piano in said mansion. one of my friends, julia, had the pleasure of playing it. well, actually we all did, but shes the only essential one to this story. so she was sitting there playing a nice diddy and after she finished this little girl (who was also on the tour) ame up to her and was like "you should come to my friends house, she has a piano!" it was so funny! then julia was playing later and the same little girl came up and took a picture of her! and said "YES! YES! MOMMY I GOT IT!" hahaha. it was cute.
from there we went to casa bonita. (music) casa bonita! casa bonita! food and fun and fun and food! (music) where i had a belicious buritto. even though i only ate half of it... we also went to a volcano. which was awesome. there was lots of hardened lava and whatnot. appararently its a federal offense to take anything (even rocks) from a national park. oops. just kidding!! haha. we told this girl, jana, there were wild boars. she got freaked out. haha. it was funny. then we were GOING to go to the pablo (pueblo) ouins, but we couldn't find them. too bad.
after the volcano we got back in the car (obviously) and i had a text message. so i opened it. it was from my friend, lindsey, who was back in suburban arlington. it said "i heard what happened! are you guys ok!?". now the thing is.. we hadn't heard what happened. so we were all thinking "Did Elaine fall off!?" that is actually what we were thinking. no lie. the other problem (not the one we didn't know about) was that we were in a dead zone. a terrible dead zone. we couldn't send any text messages, recieve any. call people in arlington. call people in the other car. so finally we got one text message. it said "beth's mom broke her leg" beth is a girl who was hiking. and so was her mom. ok.. so elaine didn't die.. but STILL! we started trying to get the other car to pull over so we could tell them. we had walkie talkies, but julia, who was in charge of the other car's walkie talkie couldn't find it. she had been sitting on it. finally they pulled over and we told them the news. both cars took off again. so.. we were both trying to figure out what exactly had happened, if she was ok, ect. when the unthinkable happened. the silver bullet got pulled over. they didn't have a license plate. when the cop came over they were just spilling out things like "girl scouts... grand canyon.... broken her leg.. rental car.." and the cop said it was ok. luckily. after an exciting day we had dinner in williams and the route 66 diner.
the next day we drove to Sedona. we ate and shopped. which is apparently all you're supposed to do in sedona. i didn't get anything. but we did see a couple wild boars hahahaha. (see previous paragraph) they were painted and spread out in the town. we also saw a man dressed in a purple robe and crocs with a long white beard listening to his ipod and walking around the town. when we got back to williams the hikers had returned! they told us stories and whatnot about the awesome time they had. now i will proceed to tell you the basic outline of what they told us.
they started hiking really early (but you knew that)
they hiked for awhile. most of the group was ahead.
some random hikers told them someone with long blonde hair was hurt, they thought she broke her leg.
they went back
there were people in orange shirts setting up tents
they were some random hikers who also happened to be members of the coast guard
the person who got hurt (Mrs. Clark) had to be airlifted.
it was free cause it was an accident
free helicopter ride over the grand canyon!! (its usually ALOT of moola)
two of the coasties hiked half way dpwn with them.
they got half way down
one of the mom's was over heated
a ranger forced her to stay in ice cold water up to her neck
she was fine
they came back
the end.
so thennnn we went out to dinner. i had spinich tortellini. it was delicious. the resturant we went to had the best pie ever. i split a piece of cookies and cream with two other people. i was amazing. we swam in the hotel pool and made a whirl pool and a wave pool. fun times.
on thursday we drove to vegas. not very eventful. basically we sat and drove. when we got to vegas it was sooo cool! we did a driving tour of the strip before arriving at the MGM GRAND! it was really nice!! and it was only $70! their pool was so nice. or actually their POOLS were so nice. there was like 6768576 of them! we also got to go see the lion king. it was amazing! the costumes, the voices, everything!! over all vegas was really super cool!
on friday we had a really good buffet breakfast and basically left. we got home at like 11:30.
ok.. that took wayyyy too long. if you read the whole thing you are really super awesome! if you didn't.. i don't blame you. haha.
